Mr. Jones Maphalaphathwa is the current President of The Association of Private Security Owners of South Africa (TAPSOSA) and the Managing Director of Mjayeli Security.
He is an astute businessman and a qualified journalist who began his career as a free- lancer, full time reporter and a publicist for several publications, the public broadcaster and a few large corporates. His focus was on issues that had a social and economic impact in society and became relentless in exposing these without fear or favour.
He subsequently became an intricate part of the private security industry as the Marketing Manager for one of the black owned security companies. It is during this time that he was confronted with various challenges faced by most marginalised security companies and developed an interest in improving the operational environment that will also benefit the latter.
After moving up the ranks to eventually lead Mjayeli Security, Maphalaphathwa took the opportunity to seek ways in which he can immensely contribute in creating a conducive and an enabling business environment for all operating in the industry.
He realised that being part of an organised collective with a common purpose was one of the solutions to address some of the industry challenges that continue to be unabated. He continues to display transformational leadership qualities with foresight and imagination as the President of TAPSOSA. His profound dedication and consistent record of positioning organisations for success is apparent given the progress made by TAPSOSA in representing and protecting the collective interest of those marginalised in the industry.
